AUT was established in 1951 • Public institution • Consists on 5 faculties: • Faculty of Agriculture and Environment • Faculty of Economy and Agribusiness • Faculty of Forestry Sciences • Faculty of Veterinary Medicine • Faculty of Biotechnology and Food • 9581 both part and full-time students • 243 academic staff
Undergone radical reformation and restructuring in early ’90s • Suffered brain-drain • Recipient of 2 big projects: • SARA supported by USA government • GTZ supported by German government • Unique institution of kind in the country, but facing different challenges, as well • Some of current challenges: • Implementation of Bologna process • Inadequate student/professor ratio • Imbalances between research and teaching • Limited financial resources • Cooperate with most of universities and other institutions in the country • International projects: TEMPUS, CEEPUS, Erasmus Mundus, NATO, SEEDNet, etc.
