  3. Why use onomatopoeia's in your beginnings? • Great beginnings hook the reader! Sounds are another way to start a story. Let’s see how some authors use sounds to start their stories. • Ok, let’s moove on…..

  4. Example Boring or exciting? • One rainy day I went to the mall. • Splish! Splash! My boots sloshed through the puddles as I ran for the mall entrance.

  5. Now let’s try it! I went to the zoo. You come up with a revision! What might you hear at the zoo?

  6. How can we make the beginning more exciting? • Use an onomatopoeia! • Challenge: Use an onomatopoeia and quotation marks!
