  1. GBK Geometry Jordan Johnson

  2. Today’s plan • Greeting • Proof Feedback • Classifying Quadrilaterals • Quadrilateral Relationships • Proof / Journal • Clean-up

  3. Discussion • In your group, take turns: • Describe the proof(s) you reviewed. • Ask the author what other conjectures or what uses they found as a result of this proof. • Share your comments on the proof you reviewed. • Decide as a group if your assessment is fair and accurate. • Last, as a group: • Decide which theorems seem most interesting and most useful.

  4. Classifying Quadrilaterals • We classified triangles by angles and equal sides. • How do we classify quadrilaterals? • Equal angles • Equal sides • Parallel sides

  5. Sketch quadrilaterals • Sketch a quadrilateral with… • All 4 sides equal • Only three sides equal • Only two consecutive sides equal • Only two nonconsecutive sides equal • Two pairs of equal consecutive sides • Two pairs of equal nonconsecutive sides • All four angles equal • Only two angles equal • Two pairs of equal consecutive angles • Two pairs of equal nonconsecutive angles

  6. Sketch quadrilaterals (cont.) • Sketch quadrilaterals with… • Only two angles equal • Two pairs of equal consecutive angles • Two pairs of equal nonconsecutive angles • Two pairs of parallel sides • Only one pair of parallel sides

  7. What’s missing? • What other type(s) of quadrilaterals have we seen and not yet named?

  8. Trapezoids • A trapezoid is a quadrilateral with at least two parallel sides (called its bases). • An isosceles trapezoid is a trapezoid with equal legs. (The legs are the non-parallel sides.)

  9. Tasks • Journal #17 – due Friday, 3/1. • For Monday, 3/4: • 20 minutes: • Investigate trapezoids.Come up with 2 conjectures. • Unit 7 Test Corrections • For Tuesday, 3/5: • “Quadrilateral Relationships” sheet: Write rules relating types of quadrilaterals.

  10. Clean-up / Reminders • Pick up all trash / items. • Push in chairs (at front and back tables). • See you tomorrow!
