  3. Fiber and ConnectorA connection • Connection process • Glue Fiber and ConnectorA • Flat finish • Difficulty • It is difficult to achieve finishing flat surface and no stick-out on the end of Fiber. • We need to glue fiber and connector completely, but easily exude the glue or one-sided gluing

  4. Way to glue Fiber and ConnectorA • Dig holes to fix connectorA • Insert fiber(120cm) to the connector • Put optical glue from top of the connector • Wait about 1 day • Cut roughly exuded fiber and glue

  5. Way to Flat finish • FiberFin4 http://www.fiberfin.com/new_products/ff4machine.html • Diamond cutter • Revolutions and cutting • achieve a 2-4um finish • <3sec finishing • Need to Make original face plate • We will order to FiberFin company or make by private facility • I made simple face plate and try finishing connector

  6. Time estimation • If we make 200 connectors per day… • Putting Glue to connector: a few hours • Waiting to harden: 1 day • Cutting and finishing connector: ~4 hours (1min. X 200) • We can finish faster If more fiberfin units are prepared. • Totally we work ~2months to make connectors

  7. Todo • Mass production stability • Can any workers finish fiber completely? • Does Fiberfin work continuously? • We may replace diamond cutter • Endurance is ~ 10,000 cycles • Confirm same finishing • I will make some connectors and test performance by Fuji beam at KEK

  8. MPPC and ConnectorB connection • Gomi-san will check all MPPC samples or construct the way to check for mass production • Need to connect MPPC and ConnectorB previously for MPPC check • Use connection support jig • Tube type • Nagai-san ordered and waiting now

  9. Summary • Fiber and ConnectorA connection • Glue fiber • Cutting and finishing by FiberFin • Quickly and flat finishing • MPPC and ConnectorB connection • Connect them before MPPC testing • Use support jig
