  3. Before you apply… Do your homework What items / companies are you competing with? What kind of price do you need to hit to be competitive? Who is the customer? Know Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club

  4. Before you apply… Do your homework Where is the demand for your product? How can Wal-Mart gain market share with your product while controlling the cost of doing business?

  6. What’s required… All Suppliers with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. must have competitive prices, financial stability, proven success in the marketplace and offer excellent products and/or services

  7. What’s required… Have a minimum of $2 million Commercial General Liability insurance Understand that, for a supplier’s protection, we do not want to grow to more than 25% of a supplier’s business

  8. What’s required… All Suppliers with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. must: Register your company with Dunn & Bradstreet (D&B) D & B rates financial stability D & B issues a Supplier Evaluation Rating (SER) report. Ratings are 1-9; the higher the number the more risky the company. Wal-Mart limits are 1-6

  9. What’s required… All products from Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. suppliers must: Have a UPC code and the company must own the number Your UCC membership number is required. This is the number assigned to your company when you apply to have your product bar-coded by the Uniform Code Council. You’re required to send a copy of the letter or certificate with this packet.

  10. Footer goes here What’s required… If you do not have a UCC number you will need to contact the UCC/GS1 at 937-435-3870 and obtain a number before you can send your questionnaire.* *Bulk Food does not require a UPC number, a PLU is acceptable.

  14. Supplier Role in Store of the Community Tell us about your product Where does it sell? Is it a regional item? Who is the customer? How does your product fit in the community?

  15. Getting Started Make an appointment to meet with a local Store/Club Manager Bring product and proposal If the store manager wants the product: You will be given a Local Purchase Supplier Questionnaire (Wal-Mart Only)

Getting Started Gather all questionnaires with proper signatures for the stores you wish to sell Send all information to the Supplier Development Office at one time You will not be able to add additional stores or product once these have been submitted until you have been shipping for six months

  18. Online Proposal Process Fill out online application found on www.walmartstores.com

  19. Online Proposal Process Select Proposal Packet under the Directory Select Online Product Submission for retail products or Service non-retail supplier questionnaire if you are offering a service or non-retail product.

  20. Online Proposal Process Fill out all information and submit online for retail products ONLY. An image (picture) of your product is required. You must print out and mail in the service supplier questionnaire for services. You will be given an application ID number at the end of the application to confirm that you have submitted correctly. Write this down!!
