  2. 3. The sheer volume of room nights booked and the collective insights shared between our seasoned associates is beyond comparison. Our process gives you back valuable time. With the strength of the most trusted and largest site selection firm in the world behind you, your negotiating power just increased exponentially. NO LOGOS!

  4. Benefits • Exponential Exposure – if worked and managed • Ability to “friend” or add nearly anyone – if you look or network • People will contact you that you would likely never reach otherwise • It is HERE and NOW • Potential Liabilities • Exponential Exposure to people you never wanted to know! • Overwhelming • Too much “noise” • Inappropriate posts that show up on your page • If the network has a liability issue, it may affect you personally • Privacy- Lack or Loss • Technology is different across applications • Some negative perceptions

  5. Public v Private • Public Profile • This is your business profile – emphasize your business relationships • Photos should be acceptable for business • Put your best foot forward! • Anonymity is a myth! • No whining, complaining, criticism, or ranting! • No politics or religion • No sex! • Have a schedule of relevant topics you post daily • Do not share information about your clients that could have them be contacted • Limit yourself to a manageable number of profiles – you need to update these daily or at least 3x / week

  6. Public v Private • Value-Added? • Significant number of relevant contacts • Linked from your business website • Brings you business or is a place to refer potential clients • Back-up your value-added profile! • Take internet photos of your contact list • Place all your data in a document and update it regularly • Make sure you have copies of everything relevant

  7. Public v Private • Private / Personal Profile • This is your personal profile – de-emphasize your business relationships, or do not include them at all • Anonymity is a myth – at some point, someone will likely link you to your public profile! • Photos – don’t post anything you don’t want your mother to see • It’s for fun! • You can whine complain criticize, or rant – but there are consequences! • You can have an opinion, but remember that they have teeth • Do not share information about others without their consent • Update as you please

  8. Public v Private Be careful that you do not put all your time and energy into your personal profile, and then you discover you have 300 contacts there, and 10 on your business profile! You will be tempted to make your personal profile – and it may be too late!

  9. Public v Private • When do I bail on a network? • Network sends a notice of shut down • Network sends notice they are charging • Network starts placing inappropriate or competitive advertising • Network is the center of legal or moral controversy, such as teenage sexual profiles, or a center for CAMGIRL spam • Network takes a political or social position • Network is notorious for spreading viruses or allowing scams • Network seriously jeopardizes your privacy

  10. What Should I Do with my Profile? • Have a list of industry-relevant news or suggestions to change regularly • Use mashables (one application, many changes) to make one change across profiles, when possible • Make changes daily or at least 3x/week – more change means your profile is active, and more people will want to add you • Refer people to relevant useful applications • Any way you can make your profile interesting and helpful to others is an advertisement for YOU

  11. Who Should I Block from my Profile, and When? • Block Camgirls • For your Public/Business profile – you have to be open to most people • Block whiners, ranters, complainers, haters • Block inappropriate applications – Farmville, Mafia Wars, etc. • Block anyone who posts inappropriately, and it shows up on your profile • Block the posts first, if the application allows • Block the person if they continue
