WMO Strategy for Service Delivery(4.1.2 – 4.1.4) WMO provides international coordination and sets standards for weather-, climate- and water-related products WMO also provides guidance for service delivery (e.g. PWS guides) Examples of “good practice” in service delivery An increasing number of NMHSs are achieving great success in service delivery 4
But….. A WMO Strategy for service delivery is required to provide more uniform and structured approach for WMO on service development and delivery applicable to all weather-, climate- and water-related information. 5
Background and Process for the Service Delivery Strategy EC WG on DRR and SD: Its terms of reference included the preparation of a “WMO Strategy for Service Delivery” as high level guidance to Members. PWSP coordinated the development of the draft with inputs from a full representation across WMO, including from the TCs, RAs, and Secretariat programmes. EC-XLII (2010) decided on presentation to Congress for approval. 6
WMO Service Delivery Strategy Service Delivery: The continuous process of developing and delivering user-focused services, defined by: user engagement, service design and development, delivering the service, and evaluation and improvement. Providing people what they need when they need it. (see Annex to Para 4.1.4). 7
