GENERAL INFORMATION Open Information, Counselling and Guidance System (AIKOS) - public database, financed and developed by the Ministry of Education and Science http://www.aikos.smm.lt Launched at February 2004 Data provided by: • Registers in the Ministry of Education and Science • Department of Statistics to the Government of the Republic of Lithuania • Lithuanian Labour Exchange • Lithuanian Labour Market Training Authority MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA

OBJECTIVES information on the learning opportunities in Lithuania 4 main target groups: • Students of general education schools • Entrants to: - higher education institutions - VET institutions • those seeking further education or training (raising of qualification) • employers • other MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA

OVERVIEW OF BASIC COMPONENTS • Study Programmes: University study programmes, College (Non-university) study programmes, Vocational education and training programmes, etc. • Education and Science Institutions: Higher education institutions (Universities, Colleges), Vocational education and training institutions, General education schools, Research institutions, etc. • Licenses: issued permits to provide higher education studies and licenses for vocational education and training • Qualifications: vocational qualifications and qualification degrees • Forms of Education Certificates: Higher education diplomas, Vocational education and training diplomas and certificates, etc. • EuropassCertifcate Supplement (additional to vocational certificate) MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA

CURRENT DEVELOPMENTS National ESF projects: • Development and Implementation of the Career Guidance System Producing of study programmes, qualifications, basic occupations, and other descriptions for AIKOS (based on Standard of descriptions) • Development and Elaboration of the Open Information, Guidance and Counselling system (AIKOS) Further developing of the component for the main target groups, guidance counsellors • Inerconnection with PLOTEUS II (Portal on Learning Opportunities throughout the European Space) (based on Common Protocol) Direct search in AIKOS database through PLOTEUS II interface MINISTRY OF EDUCATION AND SCIENCE OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA
