    6. What we do at NCI EVS Develop and maintain biomedical and scientific terminologies. These are often used for the electronic transfer of data in biomedical and scientific communities. To this end, we work closely with our partners to elicit what they want and need, and we tailor a suitable solution. 6

    13. Collaboration of NCI EVS & NCPDP Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP) recommended certain NCI terminologies for standardized use. NCPDP followed HITSP recommendation Consulted with key NCPDP individuals to designate lists of terminology, terms and definitions Mapped desired NCPDP terms to existing terminology, and created new terms when necessary Reviewed terminology with NCPDP Terminology files posted on NCI website with links on NCPDP sites 13

    26. What is NCPDP? An ANSI-accredited standards development organization. Provides a forum and marketplace for a diverse membership focused on health care and pharmacy business solutions. A member driven organization that has been named in various government legislation and rulings, such as HIPAA and the Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit. One of several Standards Development Organizations (SDOs) involved in Healthcare Information Technology and Standardization. Focus on pharmacy services, and has the highest member representation from the pharmacy services sector of healthcare 26
