Recovery • Recovery noun • 1. The act of getting back or regaining. 2. A return to normal health. • 3. A return to former prosperity or status. • If we fail to Reckon ourselves dead to sin, or fail to Resist Temptation, God has provided us with a grace provision to return to “normal Spiritual health”. Recovery • Confession: • 1 Jn 1:8-9 If we say we have no Sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. • 1 Cor 11:31 - If we judge ourselves rightly, we shall not be judged. SLB 2006

Recognition • Coming to understand something clearly and distinctly. • 1 Cor 11:19 for there must be factions among you in order that those who are genuine among you may be recognized. • Tit 3:9 And foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about law, stand away from—for they are unprofitable and vain. • It is the Holy Spirit who must teach us by means of the Word, “comparing spiritual things with spiritual” (1 Cor. 2:13). Revelation • I Jn 4:12 No man has at any time [yet] seen God. But if we love one another, God abides (lives and remains) in us and His love (that love which is essentially His) is brought to completion (to its full maturity, runs its full course, is perfected) in us! SLB 2006

Godliness • The proper Spiritual Life will result in the Revelation of Christ in our lives, a condition called Godliness. • The New Testament Greek word for godliness is EUSEBIA • It is not found in the Gospels and begins to appear only in the later epistles • But because it was a religious word it had a rich usage in classical Greek: SLB 2006
