Bridge Year and Apply • Average Age of Medical School Matriculates: ~24 • Need a chance to improve GPA, MCAT, clinical experience, letters of recommendation, research • Need more time for application process or unsure if you want to be a doctor • Have other interests, need to work • Reapplying is common and often necessary • Due to the rolling admission process, being rejected does not mean you are not a qualified candidate
Strategies to Avoid Having a Bridge Year • Apply Early! • June 1st is when applications begin to be accepted, its first come first serve, submit primary application in first part of summer if possible • Keep GPA up! • Have a good study plan for MCAT • Apply to a broad range of schools both above and below your competitive range, even if you have perfect stats!
