Double Replacement • Two things replace each other. • AB + CD AD + CB • For Products: • Formulas can and will change • Look up charges for each ion • Do 1:1 or criss-cross • Once formulas are written: • Take inventory • Balance!
Example • Potassium Iodide + Lead (II) Nitrate
Will the Reaction Happen? • Will only happen if: • A precipitate forms. • A gas forms. • Water forms.
