Recommendations of SAARC ExpertGrouponOil and Gas (1/2) • Studying opportunities and impact of supply of natural gas from outside of SAARC through development of a Gas Grid connecting the Member States • Studying Possibility of laying pipelines as the preferred mode of movement of crude/oil products, especially for the land locked Member States • Studying possibility of setting up joint oil refineries • Studying prospect of setting up SAARC Regional/Sub-regional LNG terminals • Conducting workshops and training programmes on regional experiences in oil and gas sector
Recommendations of SAARC ExpertGrouponOil and Gas (2/2) • Studying the possibilities of maintaining Emergency Regional Reserves of petroleum products at one or more places to support Member States for meeting emergency needs • Examining the possibility and extent of exchanging geological information for promotion of oil and gas exploration and development • Sharing experiences in the areas of pricing mechanism for oil and gas, operational and technical aspects of LNG terminals, and LPG for household and industrial use • Establishment of SAARC Data Bank on demand, consumption, supply chain, prices, etc., of oil and gas
SAARC Energy Centre • Established in 2006 at Islamabad to initiate, promote and facilitate cooperation in energy sector of SAARC Member States for the benefit of all • Funded by SAARC Member States and supervised by a Governing Board comprising all Member States • Professional staff selected on merit from Member States • Expert services obtained through outsourcing • International cooperation established with ADB, ASEAN, UN, ESCAP, Japan, US, Germany.
