Small Wind Turbines Development & Building Approvals Draft Regulations for Industrial, Commercial and Special Purpose Districts May 2013 Onward/ By 2020
Project Purpose To more clearly facilitate non-residential urban wind turbines • Industrial Areas • Commercial Areas • Special Purpose Areas (parks, schools, infrastructure) To define application requirements To define how applications will be evaluated To coordinate with other agencies with authority Development & Building Approvals May 2013 2
Why non-residential areas? Project focus is on non-residential areas • Trial areas and pilot projects • Potential for lesser impacts on adjacent landowners • Larger parcels may allow for mitigation options Future project phase likely to address residential parcels • In the meantime, applications can be made • will be evaluated as “Power Generation Facilities” Development & Building Approvals May 2013 3
