Marriage and Sexuality Marriage is not: • The path to personal wholeness (1 Cor 7:8, 25-35). • A cure for loneliness. • The ultimate path to happiness.
Marriage and Sexuality So what is marriage? • Partnership – Together we represent God’s kingdom (2:18-23).
Partnership I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; From where shall my help come? My help comes from the Lord, Who made heaven and earth. Psalm 121:1-2
Partnership • Be thankful for the differences between you and your spouse. • Write a thank-you note to your spouse for the way(s) he or she complements you.
Marriage and Sexuality So what is marriage? • Partnership – Together we represent God’s kingdom (2:18-23). • Picture – Together we reflect God’s love (2:24-25).
Picture One-flesh intimacy: • Sexually • Emotionally • Spiritually
Picture One-flesh permanency: “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
Picture • What would make your spouse feel most honored and loved this week?
