  1. Know Details Working Procedure Of Water Treatment Plant While Brushing Your Teeth….

  2. NEED OF WATER TREATMENT • Untreated water: • Humans and animals cannot consume the untreated water as it is not good for health. • Diseases such as dysentery, cholera, etc. may occur due to intake of water that is untreated. • If the water remains untreated for many years then this lead will to cause the bacteria and other viruses to contaminate the groundwater.

  3. WATER TREATMENT PROCESSES Screening - >Coagulation/Flocculation Sedimentation->Filtration- Disinfection->Aeration

  4. WATER TREATMENT PROCESSES PLANT

  5. 1. Waste Water 2. Screeching 3. Coagulation and Flocculation 4. Sedimentation 5. Softening 6. pH Adjustment 7. Stabilization 8. Filtration 9. Disinfection 10. Aeration 11. Supply

  6. Screening • Screening is one of the most important and operations that is done in the initial stage of wastewater treatment. • The process by means of which large chunks of non-biodegradable substances such as plastic, wood, tin, etc. are removed from the water is called screening.

  7. Coagulation and Flocculation • Both Coagulation and Flocculation form an integral part of the waste water treatment process. • Coagulation or agglomeration as it is to be called is the process by means of which the colloidal particles are destabilized. • The procedure by which larger chunks of filtered particles are joined together is known as flocculation. • Some of the coagulants are: • Aluminum Sulphate • Iron salts.

  8. Sedimentation The process by which the all the dirt particles and other substances settle down is known as sedimentation. This process is carried out in large tanks or basins that are used to hold the waste water in them so that the solid materials get suspended in the water. The process of sedimentation is carried out for 3 to 4 hours.

  9. Filtration After sedimentation, the impurities that get settle down form a floc and this floc is then removed out of the water by the process of Filtration. By means of Filtration, all the viruses and the bacteria can be treated. Rapid Sand Filter is one of the most common types of Filtering process. Rapid Sand Filter

  10. Disinfection • Disinfection is the procedure through which all the disease producing micro-organisms that are present in water are destroyed. • The disinfectants generally damage the pathogenic micro-organisms so that the water becomes free from any kind of contamination. • Examples of some disinfectants: • Chloramines • Chlorine

  11. Aeration • The process by which air gets dissolved into water is called water aeration. • Uses of water aeration: • To make aerated or fizzy cold drinks • The content of oxygen in water can be increased for fish farming etc. • Oxidization of compound substances can be done in the water.
