AIM • The aim of this course for M.I.B.E.C. II is to enable graduate participants of intermediate level to reinforce their competence in general English and to acquire or improve their English for Business and Economics. The practice of the specific language will be based on front lessons, discussions as well as on the use of the laboratory. • The topics will be dealt with in the course will help even participants with little experience of economic theory describe trends, illustrate projects and express opinions both orally and in writing.
LEARNING PROPOSAL Exposure to language : 6 compressed hours a day for the first two weeks. 68 hours spread over the whole course: possibly four hours a week. OBJECTIVE: Specific Language Accuracy. METHOD: - Primary focus on meaning- - Practice of meaning- - Contextualisation of specific terminology for an effective communication in business, finance end economy. Focus on grammar- To facilitate the expression of meanings for a construction of coherent periods and abstract relations.
PROCEDURES: The learners will be sensitised to the meanings they are about to hear. They will practise Listening and Comprehension orally and in writing. Following steps will be: - Manipulation of the circumstances of communication so that learners are obliged to extend specific terminology and grammar in order to extend their meaning system; - Tasks and activities involving real language use ( engaging learners in arguments and discussions), - Focus on ways of expressing choice and hypothesis afterwards ( case studies). TOPICS: A part of them will be agreed upon with the learners according to their needs for an effective use of the language during the lectures of other courses and in the fields they are expected to work.
