  3. What is an Intermodal Facility? • Connects multiple modes: Bus Transit, Park and Ride/Carpooling, bike/pedestrian, and maybe rail or air • Intermodal centers range from the simple (parking lot with a bus stop) to the complex (airport with bus and train connections.)

  4. Example: Portsmouth Transportation Center • A NH transit hub that links Portland, ME to Boston, MA. • 975+ space park-and-ride lot. • Exceptional amenities, including large shelter, bike racks and lockers, Wi-Fi, and 24 hour access.

  5. Example: Concord Transportation Center • Located directly off I-93, it connects the capital to Boston, Maine, and Vermont. • Serviced by Concord Trailways, Capital Area Transit, Peter Pan Trailways, and Vermont Transit. • Facilities include a Bus Terminal and 273 Space Park and Ride Lot.

  6. If Built, This Facility Would Serve As A Regional Transportation Facility • Provide a terminal for intercity bus providers • Link local fixed-route transit services • Connect demand response human service transportation providers • Supply significant park-and-ride capacity • Facilitate bicycle and pedestrian connections • Potential to provide connections to air or rail

  7. Benefits of an Intermodal Facility? • Reduce single occupant vehicle travel • Provide greater access to transportation options such as bus transit, carpooling, biking, walking, and rail. • Mitigate the need for costly infrastructure expansion
