All spouses (Q60): Since 2004/5, higher percentages of civilian spouses are married to junior enlisted (23.6% in 2004/5, 32.7% in 2010).

All spouses (Q61): The majority of spouses reported that they and their Soldier spouses are very satisfied/satisfied with the following: • Security and stability of Soldier’s job (86.3%) • Opportunity for my Soldier spouse to serve his/her country (82.1%) • Opportunity for my Soldier spouse to develop job skills (70.1%) • Soldier spouse’s Army job (60.5%) • Soldier spouse’s retirement pay and benefits (59.8%) • Soldier spouse’s pay and allowances (57.0%) • 6. All spouses (Q61): About one-half of spouses reported that they or the Soldier are dissatisfied/very dissatisfied with deployments/amount of time the Soldier spouse is away from home (51.7%).

All spouses (Q61): Since 2004/5, there has been an increase in the percentage of spouses who reported that they and their Soldier spouse are very satisfied/satisfied with: • Security and stability of Soldier spouse’s job (80.1% in 2004/5, 86.3% in 2010) • Opportunity for Soldier to serve his/her country (79.9% in 2004/5, 82.1% in 2010) • Opportunity for Soldier to develop job skills (67.5% in 2004/5, 70.1% in 2010) • Soldier’s retirement pay & benefits (48.5% in 2004/5, 59.8% in 2010) • Soldier’s pay and allowances (47.0% in 2004/5, 57.0% in 2010) • All spouses (Q61): Since 2004/5, there has been an increase in the percentage of spouses who reported that they and their Soldier spouse are dissatisfied/ very dissatisfied with deployments/amount of time the Soldier is away from home (49.3% in 2004/5, 51.7% in 2010). • All spouses (Q62): According to civilian spouses, 64.9% of their Soldier spouses plan to stay in the Army until retirement and 17.8% plan to stay beyond their current obligation.
All spouses (Q63): 68.0% of the civilian spouses want their Soldier spouse to stay in the Army until retirement and 14.9% want them to stay beyond their current obligation. • All spouses (Q62&63): Compared to civilian spouses, Soldier spouses are less likely to want to stay in the Army until retirement (64.9% Soldiers, 68.0% spouses) and slightly more likely to want to stay beyond their present obligation but not necessarily until retirement (17.8% Soldiers, 14.9% spouses). • All spouses (Q62&63): 16.5% of Soldier spouses plan to leave the Army upon completion of their present obligation and 15.0% of spouses wish their Soldier spouse would leave the Army upon completion of their present obligation. • All spouses (Q62): Since 2004/5, the percentage reporting that the SOLDIER spouse plans to stay in the Army beyond the present obligation, but not until retirement has increased (14.9% in 2004/5, 17.8% in 2010).
All spouses (Q63): Since 2004/5, the percentage reporting that THEY (the civilian spouse) want their Soldier spouse to stay in the Army until retirement has increased slightly (65.6% in 2004/5, 68.0% in 2010) and the percentage reporting that they want the Soldier to leave upon completion of the present obligation has decreased (17.9% in 2004/5, 15.0% in 2010). • Spouses of Not Deployed Soldiers (Q64): One- half or more of the spouses reported that very often or always/often during the last 12 months they did not know at the start of the day what time their Soldier spouse would leave work (59.3%) and that the Soldier spouse was kept at work beyond normal duty hours (49.9%). 26.8% said the Soldier decided to stay at work beyond normal duty hours. • Spouses of Not Deployed Soldiers (Q64): Compared to 2004/5, lower percentages of spouses reported that their Soldier spouse always/very often/often decided to stay at work beyond normal duty hours at his/her duty assignment (45.1% in 2004/5, 26.8% in 2010), was required to work on the weekend (37.6% in 2004/5, 26.0% in 2010), and was kept at work beyond normal duty hours (54.8% in 2004/5, 49.9% in 2010).
