Campus Updates Seri Alam , Johor New Campus, Bandar Baru Bangi • Architect has finalised the building orientation drawing. • Received approval from Jabatan Alam Sekitar on 8 April 2011. • Pending approval from “Kebenaran Merancang (KM)” • Appointment of Quantity Surveyor on 25July 2011. • Earthwork submission upon obtaining approval for KM. • Approved to run MBBS programme with 100 student quota from MOHE. • MMC approval to enrol student received. • 31 students enrolled for Foundation Programme as at 31 July 2011. • MBBS programme will start on 20 October 2011.   16. 2nd Quarter Financial Results • Reduction in revenue due to: • Lower student enrolment • due to the Ministry of Higher Education’s decision to align the academic term for local institutions of higher learning (IPTs) with that of universities abroad by moving the intake commencement date from June/July to September. • Reduction in profit due to: • Increase in academic staff cost • better lecturer / student ratio • high number of students taking degree programmes • Increase in depreciation and support staff cost which was in line with Company’s expansion.

Strong cash flow from operations and low gearing levels Cash and cash equivalents (RM million) • High cash and cash equivalents in June 2010 was due to IPO proceeds of RM143.5 million. • Increase in gearing in June 2011 was due to drawdown of new facilities. Total debt (RM million) Gearing 0.05x 0.11x

  21. Property, plant and equipment at cost 351.1 • Capex included infrastructure spend to support growth in student population • The increase in capex is mainly due to campus expansion in Kota Kinabalu. • Future capital expenditure expected to relate largely to expansion of our campuses, construction and fitting out of buildings for new university campus in Bangi, Selangor to be funded by internally generated funds, IPO proceeds and additional banking facilities procured as needed.
