Ku Klux Klan Harry Gulson
What is the Ku Klux Klan? The Ku Klux Klan is a group consisting of 5000 people in the United States. They are committed to using violence in order to make the white race supreme over other races and groups. More than 40 clans exist. In 2006 Ku Klux Klan activity was noticed again as Klan groups attempted to exploit fears in America over gay marriage, assaults on Christianity, crime and immigration.
When and How did it Start? The Ku Klux Klan came into existence following the American Civil War (1861-1865). It was America’s first terrorist group. The Ku Klux Klan has been through many growths and collapses, but despite all that it has maintained, to this day, it’s heritage of hate and violence.
Which Groups do they Hate? At first, the Ku Klux Klan focused its anger and violence on African-Americans, on white Americans who stood up for them, and against the federal government who supported their rights. Soon they added more groups to their list including Jews, Catholics, homosexuals, and different groups of immigrants.
