Landscape of the Himalayas • The Himalayas is a mountain range in the north-eastern part of India, Nepal, Pakistan and China, among others. • The Himalayas is snow-covered, and there are around 15,000 ice bergs on the mountains. • Rivers such as the Ganga, Brahmaputra and the Indus come from the Himalayas. • There are many lakes, forests in the lower part of the Himalayas. 8

  10. Type of Mountain Range • The Himalayas are the highest mountain range in the world. Over 30 peaks in the Himalayas are over 24,000 feet or 7315 meters high. 10

Interesting Facts • The Himalayas means the ‘abode of snow’! • The Himalayas formed approximately 70 million of years ago • 75% of Nepal is covered by the Himalayas • Although the Himalayas is the highest mountain range in the world, it is also the youngest. • 31 of the Himalayan peaks exceed 7,600 meters 11
