Highlights • 7th Annual GATE Science Night • 4th year of Math Olympiad • 3rd Annual Elementary Math Olympiad Tournament • 2nd Annual Middle School Math Olympiad Tournament • Expansion of Junior Great Books and problem solving questioning strategies • Problem Based Learning (PBL) pilot • Common Core/RtI training including extension for advanced students • Principal and teacher PD focused on infusing rigor and depth in lessons • GATE Cohort Academy with Moreland • Continuity of Advanced ELA classes at Price • Strong GATE Council
GATE Cohort Academy • In-house GATE Certification with Cambrian and Moreland • Four Cambrian teachers • In depth training and implementation of William and Mary Center for Gifted EducationUnits for GATE students • Training and ongoing support from Dr. Tamra Stambaugh from Vanderbilt University as well as district trainers • Extension of GATE strategies focused on Rigor and Depth • PBL with multimedia presentations • Teacher PD at Price led by Price participants • GATE Symposium to celebrate completion of 1st cohort
Moving Forward • Launch 2nd GATE Cohort Academy • Expand PD with emphasis on in class differentiation strategies and Junior Great Books • Align local assessments to Identification tool • Strengthen GATE Council • Finalize goal setting with GATE Council based on key components of GATE Services
