Purpose • To report preoperative ocular parameters of pediatric eyes with ectopia lentis • To evaluate the axial growth after lensectomy in eyes with ectopia lentis • To evaluate refractive shift after lensectomy in eyes with ectopia lentis
Method Control Age, gender, race, follow-up matched (non-traumatic) Case Ectopia lentis (non-traumatic) One eye was randomly selected for bilateral cases.
Results • Preoperative: 60 eyes of 60 subjects (30 in each group) • Axial growth: 24 eyes of 24 subjects (12 in each group) • Refractive shift: 30 eyes of 30 subjects (15 in each group)
Conclusion • Compared to cataract patients of the same age, gender, and ethnicity, ectopia lentis eyes have significantly • Increased corneal diameter • Longer globe axial length • Greater lens thickness • Flatter corneal curvature • Compared to cataract patients of the same age, gender, ethnicity, and follow-up duration, ectopia lentis eyes showed • A trend towards higher refractive shift, however, not statistically significant.
