Learning Objectives • Minimum entitlement: leaning objective to be shared at the start of each lesson which clearly explains the focus of learning during that lesson. • We will not be expecting to see must, should, could • Aim: growth mind set, resilience, aim high. • Teaching backwards: what do we want our students to learn, what is the learning journey to get them there, explain, model, test.

  4. Entry to the classroom • Meet & Greet • Greet all students at the door ‘and enter quietly, praise and engage positively with each student upon entering the room. • The teacher must check the uniform is worn correctly: • All students must enter the room in an orderly fashion, quietly and take a seat, taking out their pen, equipment and putting their planner on their desk and KO for 7 and 8 .Students can be recording homework and deadlines into planners upon sitting down. • We understand that staff may have to travel from afar and pupils may have a slightly altered routine of lining up ready to go in. • Please can staff be prompt to lessons to minimise disruption in corridors.

  5. Home learning • Year 7 and 8 knowledge organisers • 30 minutes a week KS3 • Up to 60 minutes a week KS4 • Stuck in the back of books and • Peer / self marked weekly with optional green pen • Time table will be issued this week for TLC to check

  6. No longer out of site out of mind • Recall – recapping weekly home learning then adding in questions from previous home learning . Below is an example of methods used to test recall of a topic Students complete the gap fill Students to circle the verbs Students rewrite word for word In a task in class match the theme to the piece of text Spelling tests

Activities for students to support our CPD • Each week a literacy focus will be emailed for you to share with your form along with revision strategies. • Year 7 and 8 will have a page in their KO to record notes from these activities. • At the start of each unit of work students will have a do now spelling activity of common words for their new topic. This can be conducted in the back of their books for easier access. • 10th September – brain teaser • 17th September – literacy wall launch • 1st December book fair.
