Summary of Event • The Civil Rights Movement was a very important time in history. It started in 1955 and ended in 1968. The Greensboro Four Sit-Ins were a large part of the Civil Rights Movement. This was a time when blacks sat in restaurants where they were not allowed and refused to leave.
When? • Started on February 1st, 1960 at 10:30 AM • Was still happening in November
Where? • 1st sit-in at Woolworth’s in Greensboro, North Carolina • Caused sit-ins across the state • By the end of February, sit-ins were happening across the south
Who was Involved? • The original Greensboro Four: • Franklin McCain • Joseph Mcneil • Ezell Blair Jr. • David Richmond
What was the Purpose? • To demand equal rights for blacks • To do something to remember Emmit Till
Additional Facts • The Greensboro Four were from North Carolina A&T College • The sit-in forced Woolworth’s to close early • By November 6th there were 1,000 protestors
