We are in support of the Nashoba School Committee’s goal of including all stakeholders in this pursuit. • We believe all students will benefit from continued attention to these attributes.

Nashoba Regional School DistrictPompositticut and Center Schools • Goals 2007-2008 • To accommodate the increased student • population in grade 4 by adding a new • classroom. • To expand current reading assessment • practices in Grades 1-3 to the 4th grade level. • To focus on math instruction and • assessment in response to MCAS Action • Plans.

Nashoba Regional School DistrictPompositticut and Center Schools • To continue school wide recognition of kind and respectful actions or behaviors through the Pompo/Center Penguin Award. • To continue the school wide emphasis on Responsive Classroom and Second Step techniques. • To continue to implement various safety measures on a school wide basis. • To continue to communicate with the Pompo/Center community through various methods.

Nashoba Regional School DistrictPompositticut and Center Schools Goals from 2006-2007 • To replace old/damaged furniture for safety reasons. • To maintain an adequate level of technology. • To support teachers in the development of technological based science lab activities • To support “teaching to the range” of all learners in a remedial and enriching capacity

With their input we prioritized the budget requests, and matched those needs to the goals and objectives of the School Improvement Plan.

Nashoba Regional School DistrictPompositticut and Center Schools FY 08 Initiatives • Mathematics literacy and instructional practices/assessments • Guided reading and assessments • Prepare to implement updated science curriculum • Implement social studies unit changes • Further develop school-wide enrichment practices

Nashoba Regional School DistrictPompositticut and Center Schools FY 08 Initiatives • Further develop inclusionary practices in the regular education classroom. • Expand the Handwriting Without Tears program to Grade 2 • Continue to focus on school-wide safety and security. • Continue to replace worn and damaged furniture.

  14. Nashoba Regional School DistrictPompositticut and Center Schools • Summary of FY 07 Initiatives • Health- all students have participated in the district health education curriculum this year. All 3 part-time teachers continue to collaborate for vertical planning. • Science and Engineering program- at the fifth grade level we have offered expanded technology and engineering opportunities involving additional background knowledge and real-life applications.

Nashoba Regional School DistrictPompositticut and Center Schools Summary of FY 07 Initiatives • Instructional Coaches- have led building initiatives related to the school improvement plan; mainly guided reading, reading assessment, differentiated instruction practices, math literacy.. • Library- all students have participated in library classes focusing on library skills, research skills, and literature circles.

Nashoba Regional School DistrictPompositticut and Center Schools Summary of FY 07 Initiatives • Handwriting- expanded the Handwriting Without Tears program to Grade 1. • Communication- Increased communication with parents through the use of the ConnectEd phone system, list serve e-mail group for each building, and further development of the schools’ web site.

  17. Nashoba Regional School DistrictPompositticut and Center Schools Summary of FY 07 Initiatives • Caring Community- continued focus on recognition of kind and respectful actions or behaviors. • Teacher Interns- continued to act as a host site for local colleges to place teacher interns.

Nashoba Regional School DistrictPompositticut and Center Schools In conclusion, the materials and teacher requested for the Pompositticut/Center Elementary Schools’ FY ’08 budget meet the students’ needs. We look forward to an increase in student achievement with the assistance of the programming and materials presented in this budget. Thank you for your continued support of the students of the Nashoba Regional School District.
