2). Technical details of the Megator Rotary Lobe Pump Shafts are carried by bearings on both sides of the gear wheels. Rotor: 2 or 3 vane, ”gear”, bucket shape – standard lobe shape, or peanut lobe shape. Lipseal as standard, running on TC coated shafts. Optional mech. seals or packed gland. As standard running in a seal barrier fluid: dry-running possible and seal life is prolonged. Casing: - Cast Iron, 304 SS, 316 SS, Bronze, Titanium & Hastelloy - Double O-ring gasketed casing. - Flanges can be DIN or ANSI

Applications. • Crude oil (Waste oil). • Used to create natural gas, naphta, asphalt, kerosene etc. • Forms the raw material for many chemicals • Viscosity from 8 cSt to several thousands cSt • Often contains particles, often very abrasive • The pump to use: • Megator Rotary Lobe in cast iron or steel/stainless steel • Steel or rubber rotors • Low speed at higher viscosities and impurities • Hardened casing can be offered if very abrasive • Heating jackets may be required, or electrical heating mats/tracing

Applications • Bitumen with filler (pitch, tar, petroleum asphalt) • Used for roads, roof tar, insulation, fungisides etc. • Viscosity from 100 – 5,000 cSt, depending on temperature • Filler is often ground stone • Pumpable temperature 150 – 205 degrees C • The pump to use: • Megator Rotary Lobe cast iron • Steel rotors, heating jackets/tracing • Stuffing box or lip seals • If with filler, hardened casing/wear plates should be used
3). Applications • Molten suplhur. • Used in the pulp- and paper industry, to produce sulphuric acid, vulcanizing rubber etc. • Density high, 1.8. Must be considered in regards to calculation of Pdiff./power consumption • Very temperature sensitive, must be pumped at the correct temperature. Typically between 121 and 154 degrees C. Here viscosity is app. 6 – 9 cp • The pump to use: • Megator Rotary Lobe cast iron • Steel rotors, heatning jackets/tracing • Stuffing box or lip seals • Pump life will allways be relatively short

Applications • Paint. • Viscosity from 20 cSt and upwards • Pigments can be very abrasive and sedimenting • Can be shear sensitive due to a latex content • Contains thinner or water • The pump to use: • Megator Rotary Lobe cast iron/stainless steel • Lip seals at higher visc. and sticky paints • Elastomers must be able to handle thinners • Power adequate for starting up with sedimenting pigments in the pump • Able to run at high speed to flush pump

Applications • Zinc oxide/Iron oxide (Zinc oxide coating, zinc oxide slurry). • Viscosity from 44 cSt to 220 cSt • Used as pigment in paints, acellerator-activator in rubber, pharma etc. • Highly abrasive • Sediments • The pump to use: • Megator Rotary Lobe cast iron • Low speed and hardened casing • Steel rotors • TC/TC faced mech.seals or lip seals

Applications • Adhesives (Glue, cement, paste). • Wide range of viscosities • Basic components are latex, liquid rubber, starch etc. • Shear sensitive and abrasive • May solidify due to heat generation in the pump • The pump to use: • Megator Rotary Lobe cast iron/stainless steel • Elastomers must be able to handle the solvents used in the adhesive • Power adequate for starting up with sedimentation / ”sticking” in the pump

Applications • Molasses. • Viscosity from 200 cSt up to approximately 22,000 cSt • Used for animal food, human food, butanol and acetone • Many different types of molasses, with huge variations in properties • The pump to use: • Megator Rotary Lobe stainless steel • Lip seals should be used • Power adequate for starting up with semi-solidified molasses in the pump

Applications • Chocolate (cocoa butter, coating chocolate e.t.c.) • Viscosity from 20 cSt and higher • Can be highly shear sensitive • Heat generation can that it caramelize • Even minute traces of water will ruin the batch • The pump to use: • Megator Rotary Lobe cast iron/ stainless steel • Lip seals with lantern ring for cocao butter / food grade grease lubrication • Low speed • High temperature tolerances, to minimize frictional heat between casing and rotors

Applications • Fat (Cold fat, ground fat). • Viscosity varies, but can be as high as 22,000 cSt • May contain bone splinters, which are abrasive • Used for animal food, or are simply destructed if it comes from sick animals at slaughter houses • Beef fat is harder to pump than pork fat • The pump to use: • Megator Rotary Lobe cast iron/stainless steel • Lip seals at higher viscosities, at lower viscosities TC/TC mech. seals are acceptable • Use of hardened casing extends life • Sometimes heating may be required
3). Applications • Starch & Paper coating (Pulp- and paper industry) • Viscosity from 20 cSt and higher • Pigments can be very abrasive and sedimenting • Pumpable temperature 150 – 205 degrees C • Higher temps. can mean that it becomes solid • The pump to use: • Megator Rotary Lobe cast iron/stainless steel • Lip seals at higher viscosities should be used • Power adequate for starting as these liquids tend to settle
3). Applications • Sludge from waste water treatment (WWT). • Viscosity varying depending on the specific sludge • Can be highly abrasive • Can be shear sensitive • The pump to use: • Megator Rotary Lobe cast iron, rubber rotors. • Lip seals at higher viscosities should be used. • At high pressures (high DS), use • front-end bushings • Hardened casing and wear plates • extends life span • At high DS, use in-feed screw
4). 4). ”Competition” from other PD´s • Peristaltic Pumps. • Brands: Watson-Marlow, Bredel, LSM, Finder, Boyser etc. • Megator Rotary Lobe sales arguments: • Can handle harder solids. • Can run continously at high speed. • Higher pressures. • More efficient due the friction less design. • Higher speeds possible, as we dont need to wait for a hose to return to the original shape. • Compact design, even with high-flow pumps.
4). ”Competition” from other PD´s • Progressive Cavity Pumps. • Brands: MONO, PCM, Netzch, Seepex, Bellin, Wangen, Bornemann etc. • Megator Rotary Lobe sales arguments: • Can dry-run • Can run continously at high speed, due to no friction and good balance. • More efficient due to the frictionless design. • Compact design, even with high-pressure pumps. • Lower LCC due to cheaper spares and quicker maintenance. • Sensible relationship between initial pump purchase price and spare part prices.
