BEING EXCELLENT =BEING COMPETENT Moravian-Silesian Region of Change from steel&coal to diversified economic structure from unemployment to adaptability and life-long learning • Generic soft skills are key factor to performance at work • Soft skills/Key competencies are transferable • Development of transferable key competencies (soft skills) can improve employability and adaptability of individuals to succeed on the labour market (and life) • Key competencies, however, do not play an appropriate role in the life long learning • The existing education system is focused mainly on development of knowledge and profession related skills • A majority AGREES, many WANT TO CHANGE IT but only a few KNOW-HOW TO MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Output indicators + Mainstreaming • Min. 420 adult trainees in verification of soft skills training programmes developed by the regional partnership (420) • Min. 1,000 adult trainees in the dissemination phase (>1500) • Min. 1,000 school children in testing period (>5000) • Min. 20,000 users of internet applications (>6000 by 1/2008) Mainstreaming&Dissemination • Local/Regional level – introduction of competence trainings into education system in the Moravian_Silesian region • National level – mainstreaming of competence trainings into education of children and adults – National Frameworks for Qualifications and Professions • European level – dissemination of programmes for soft skills trainings in abroad (England, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Spain + Romania, Turkey, Ukraine)
