Updates: SWP Round 1 Update Report • SUMMARY • Financial Update: • The SWP-Teacher Preparation project has expended and encumbered about 51% of total funding. • All colleges that submitted a report expects to spend 100% of their allocated funding. Balance: $231,983.44

Updates: SWP Round 1 Update Report SWP-TPP Regional Outcomes Highlights • Several colleges have offered or increased dual enrollment offerings for courses related to teaching, thus, contributing to increased enrollment metric. Examples: o Cerritos - EDEL 100 & EDT 110 was added as a dual enrollment course at Cerritos HS o Rio Hondo - offered dual enrollment courses leading to teaching: Spring 2017: 1 class 25 students completed Spring 2018: 2 classes 30 + 20 = 50 students completed Summer 2018: 1 class Fall 2018: 3 classes o ELAC - Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 – Total of 5 Noncredit Classes – total of 120 students Fall 2017 and Spring 2018 – Total of 3 Credit classes o Citrus - In spring 2018, 47 courses were offered across the high schools in the college attendance area including STEM coursework.
Updates: SWP Round 1 Update Report • SWP-TPP Regional Outcomes Highlights • • Offered 4 Regional Faculty Professional Development Workshops/Conferences: • o TPP Dual Enrollment Conference, Cerritos College, Spring 2018 • o ECE-STEM Conference, Compton College, Spring 2018 • o TPP Curriculum Standards, CSULA, Spring 2018 • o Dual Enrollment Faculty Orientation, Summer 2018 (in collaboration with the Career Pathways Specialists project) • o Future regional PDs in Fall 2018: • - Pierce will offer a CTE teacher PD conference in Fall 2018 to encourage support and cnnect with regional and local CTE instructors. • - LA Trade Tech will host two recruitment sessions for industry professionals interested in teaching and current/former ROP, CTE or Perkins instructors from secondary level interested in becoming adjunct teachers.
Updates: SWP Round 1 Update Report • SWP-TPP Regional Outcomes Highlights • • Teaching Pathway: • o Rio Hondo has developed a teaching pathway with a certificate in Elementary Teacher Education offered as dual enrollment at the high school, completed at the community college and transfers to a 4-year credentialing institution. The pathway will be piloted in Fall 2018 at Rio Hondo and will be shared regionally to other colleges as a model pathway. • Certificates developed pending approval: • -Elementary Teacher Education C of A –approved by the Chancellor’s Office • -Child Development Specialization: Special Education –recommended by LAOCRC • -Infant Toddler Specialization - –recommended by LAOCRC • -Language & Literacy Specialization - –recommended by LAOCRC
Updates: SWP Round 1 Update Report • SWP-TPP Regional Outcomes Highlights • o ELAC has implemented Child Development Pathway leading towards a skill certificate (Associate Teacher: Teacher –Certificate 1). • o LA Mission - Elementary Teacher Education AA-T Program continues to pursue the activities described in the original workplan. • o Pasadena -Develop a new AA-T pathway for STEM TPP students at Pasadena City College. • -Submit the AAT-T in Elementary Education to the Chancellor’s office for approval. • o Santa Monica - Develop and implement university partnerships (such as UCLA, CSUDH. etc.) to streamline career pathways that lead to Bilingual / STEM teaching • • Permits: El Camino - July 2015-June 2016 = 121 permits • - August 2016-June 30, 2017 = 165 permits • • Regional Meetings: The TEACH Los Angeles Regional Collaborative has met five times (face-to-face) and has met via conference calls, as needed. The collaborative meets regularly on a quarterly basis and have shared effective practices in dual enrollment, cross-system alignment and partnerships.
