  2. Reception • We recommend that goods are inspected upon delivery • Check vacuum packs are intact • Organoleptic testing is recommended

Discolouration • Typical colour: creamy, light beige • “The kernel should be free from blemishes, areas of discolouration or spread stains in pronounced contrast with the rest of the kernel affecting in aggregate more than 10% of the surface of the kernel” (UNECE) • P. Koraiensis can be more yellow than P. Siberica due to collection after snowfall

  4. Foreign Matter • Definition: empty shell, loose shell, shell fragments, fragments of hull, dust (UNECE) • Tolerance of 0.05% by weight

  5. Defects • “Slight superficial damage is not considered a defect” (UNECE)
