1. DDA LDRA Policy Leaves Farmhouse Owners in Distress The DDA LDRA Policy, or Delhi Dwarka Affordable LDRA policy, offers affordable shelter to the thousands of upper-middle-class and middle-class families that reside in Delhi. Because of the ever increasing population of Delhi, the city has become very crowded and price of housing has increased. DDA aims at providing affordable housing just outside the city, in the extension. The DDA is under MPD 2021 which aims at turning the city into a holistic one with proper town planning and with special emphasis on beautification and affordable housing. Some of the farmhouses in Delhi NCR however stand to lose a lot, as this policy is going to regularize all the farmhouses built before 2007. The DDA LDRA Policy has set new guidelines to ensure that the Farm Houses in Delhi NCR are used to make sure that the crops are growing well, instead of being used for parties and such. The area permitted has been reduce to 1 acre, from the previous 2.5 acres to make sure that the farmhouses which have now become a status symbol, are used for their actual purpose and not simply as a weekend getaway. To bring down the price of the land, and in turn, make it affordable for the middle class population, the DDA LDRA policy has come up with the new 1 acre plot notice. Because the Farmhouses in Delhi NCR became fashionable in the early part of the 20th century, the price of land has risen from lakh to crores. With this new policy, it can be hoped that prices will become reasonable again.
