KAWIT Has a population of 76,405 people Has an area of 16.7 sq. km Headed by a municipal mayor, a vice mayor and 10 councilors
INDEPENDENCE MISSIONS • 1st independence mission was led by Manuel L. Quezon • The 1st independence mission was not successful
INDEPENDENCE MISSIONS There were 12 independence missions One of the independence missions was led by Sergio Osmena and Manuel Roxas, known as the OSROX mission
INDEPENDENCE MISSIONS The OSROX mission was the one that was successful and eventually led to the independence of the Philippines

HARE-HAWES CUTTING ACT OF 1933 • Passed by the U.S. congress through the OSROX mission
HARE-HAWES CUTTING ACT OF 1933 This law provided that independence would be granted to the Filipinos after a 10 year transition period under a Commonwealth government
HARE-HAWES CUTTING ACT OF 1933 Some were in favor of this law(Pros) but some were against it (Antis) The Pros were headed by S.Osmena and M.Roxas and the Antis were headed by M. Quezon

Reasons why the Antis rejected the law • America would retain its possession of land for the American military reservations in the country
Reasons why the Antis rejected the law The number of Filipinos who would migrate to America during the Commonwealth period would be limited to only 10 every year. There was no limit of Americans who migrate to the Phil.
Reasons why the Antis rejected the law There would be quota on Philippine products that would enter America but no quota would be imposed of American products that would enter the Philippines
Reasons why the Antis rejected the law After granting of independence, tariff taxes would be imposed on Philippine products upon entry to America
TYDINGS – MCDUFFIE ACT OF 1934 • Was similar to the H-H-C Act except for some details
TYDINGS – MCDUFFIE ACT OF 1934 Manuel Quezon went to the U.S. to have a meeting with President Roosevelt and other American leaders to pass this law. This was the last independence misssion.
Provisions of the Tydings-McDuffie law • The commonwealth government would be established and would prevail for 10 years
Provisions of the Tydings-McDuffie law The Philippine Legislature would call for a constitutional convention in which the delegates would be elected by the people.The constitutional convention would frame the Commonwealth Constitution.
