Lagrangian Coherent Structures LCS are key material lines that shape transport patterns. Examples include the boundaries of coherent material eddies (“black holes”) and the centerpieces of tracer (such as oil) filaments. This project will seek to investigate the transport of impurities (such floats or oil) near LCS in to better understand Lagrangian measurements and in an attempt to forecast the evolution of an oil spill.
