1987 International Convention Constitutional Amendment OFFICIAL NOTICE The following proposed amendment will be reported tothe delegates for vote at the 1987 International Convention: CONSTITUTION ARESOLUTION TO REMOVE THE WORD “MALE“ AS A CONDITION OF MEMBERSHIP IN A LIONS CLUB. This resolution will provide that a Lions Club would be eligible to invite both male and female persons as members. Thus, membership in a Lions Club will continue to be by invitation only whether a Club is comprised of all men, all women, or men and women. Shall the following resolution be adopted? BE lT RESOLVED, That, Article III, Section 8, of the International Constitution be amended by deleting the word “male“ as lt appears in Line 2 of said Section and that a new sentence be added to the end of said Section to read as foliows: “Wherever the male gender or pronoun presently appears in the International Constitution and By-Laws, lt shall be interpreted to mean both male and female persons.“ Passed

Retaining New Women Members We will have wasted much precious effort if we eagerly recruit women this year, but do little to welcome them into our club.
