Skeletal System Structures of the Bone
Major Organs • Bone Marrow •Compact Bone •Cartilage •Tendons
Outside Bone or Compact Bone • Bone is a producer that produces calcium and phosphorus. Compact bone makes blood inside the bone and sends it out through little holes and passages called osteons.
Inside Bone or Bone Marrow • Bone Marrow is the inner part of a bone. This is the main healing area of a bone. If your bone breaks then the bone marrow helps heal the broken bone.
Cartilage • Cartilage is the material that surrounds the bone at a joint. This helps protects the bone from the warring down of bone tissue.
Tendons • Tendons are muscles that surround the bone to allow the bone to have movement.
