What is ballet? • Ballet is a type of dance it allows you to build strength and confidents! There are many kinds of movements in ballet these are called “movements in dance.” The types of movements in dance are: plié, etondré, relevé, glissé, sauté.
things you need for ballet. For Ballet you need the following: • Ballet shoes. • Tights. • Leotard. • A skirt to go over your tights and leotard. • Your hair in a bun. • A drink bottle to keep you hydrated.
What do you do in Ballet? • In ballet there are positions of the feet they are: first, second, third, fourth and fifth. A exercise at the barre or in the centre always starts with one of these positions, but mostly they start in first or fifth. There is also positions of the arms these are: first, demi second, second, fifth on barre, fifth on a von, fifth on O. these are only the main ones. Also there's arabesque which are: 1st, 2ndand 3rd. There is a lot more than just this!
In a ballet room there is points of the room which are: Corner 1, 2, 3 and 4 Wall 5, 6, 7 and 8 You can see these in the picture. In an exam you would have to explain these to the examiner.
Rules for Ballet. • There are some rules you need to follow in ballet these are: • Always listen to the teacher or examiner. • Always use your manners. • Do what you are told. • Don’t be rude! • Try and get to class on time.
