National Youth Agency • Established in 1991, based in Leicester • Aim to advance youth work to promote young people’s personal and social development, and their voice, influence and place in society • Work with organisations to improve the life chances of young people, shape policy and secure social justice
Intergenerational Youth Learning Network • Established September 2008 • Funded by the Office of Civil Society • Partnership with Beth Johnson Foundation • Aim to develop intergenerational work from a youth work perspective: • 29 Intergenerational Youth Learning Network members • 6 pilot Intergenerational case studies

Fulbridge Intergenerational Project • Youth led community intergenerational event • Joint pre-planning meetings and discussions about history of Fulbridge, life as a teenager and childhood games • 200 Community fun day participants
Jewish Lads and Girls Brigade • Redbridge Jewish Lads and Girls band and Jewish Care residential home arts and craft project. • Holocaust Survivors • Association of Jewish Ex Service Men and Women
Nacro: Oral Histories Project • Community audit, young person participant led project bringing young people together with older people to discuss and capture oral histories of living in East Wythenshawe • Challenges: • CRB/ safeguarding • Time constraints • Legacy? 2nd stage participants moving on
Trafford Youth Offending Team • ‘What makes you happy?’ art project • Artwork sessions and themed discussions in residential care home. Vibrant mosaic created illustrating participants share many similarities and all want to be happy! • Animal Antics Animation • Young person led animation exploring adults perceptions about young people. DVD is shown in civic venues and is used to promote and develop intergenerational work • Trafford Intergenerational and Multicultural Project • Young person led film exploring intergenerational differences and cultural diversity in Trafford • Legacy – film, skills, learning about culture, heritage and common ground between generations and cultures
