NA3 activity reportApril 2006 - Sept 2007Prof. David HornTAU
Workshops • Grid Induction Hands on Workshop for the Biomedical Community. Tel Aviv, Israel. Sept 19, 2006 : http://iag.iucc.ac.il/workshop4.php 14 participants, all from Israel. • Grid Induction for Computational Biology – satellite workshop of the ECCB conference, Eilat, Israel. Jan 23, 2007. Joint event of EUMEDGRID and EGEE-II. 18 people from 5 countries participated.http://iag.iucc.ac.il/workshop5.php • Hands on Workshop on Grid and Condor for Bioinformatics. Tel Aviv University Sep 17, 2007. 20 graduate students participated.
Demo • Software demo in ECCB 2006 (Jan 22, 2007): Grid Computing for Bioinformatics. Presented in front of an international audience of about 80 scientists. http://www.eccb06.org/new_pages/program/accepted_sw.html#13
User Support • Personal induction and support for users in Israel from various scientific fields (biology, physics, computer science) • Find solutions for users transferring their special applications to the grid Team: Eddie Aronovich, TAU Assaf Gottlieb, TAU
Additional challenges • Assimilation is needed after induction • Library of examples from different domains • Solution for short tasks (not thru RB) • Resources (like DB) are not standard in VOs • User’s registration process is too long (and not online): • UI user • Certificate • Registration for a VO Add more users
