  1. OSU ECE Computer Engineering Program Prof Klein 11/10/2010

  2. Computers in ECE • Computer Engineering Program (CES) • Computer Area of Concentration in EE (EES)

  3. Computer Engineering Requirements • Same math requirements as EE except must also take Math 366. • ECE required computer courses: ECE 265, 561, 662, 567 • CSE required computer courses: CSE 221, 222, 321, 560, 660

  4. Computer Engineering Requirements (Cont.) • 33 hours required between Technical Electives and Selected Core. • 0 to 9 hours may be Selected Core (low level electives) • Of the technical elective hours, 12 hours must be from a pick list. • Of the technical elective hours, 15 must be ECE classes but you can include EE core classes not in CpE core, like ECE 311, 312, 327, 341, 432, and 447.

  5. Computer Engineering Requirements (Cont.) • The 12 and 15 requirements can overlap. • Depending on choices, up to 18 hours can be outside technical electives (see list in UG handbook, more by petition.)

  6. Pick List for 12 hour requirement • Circuits and CAD ECE 720, 721, CSE 778 • Microprocessors ECE 765 • Digital Design and Arch ECE 667,762,764, CSE 775 • Computer Interfacing and networks ECE 766, CS&E 677 • Robotics and Control ECE 551,755, 757, 763

  7. Pick List (continued) • AI, neural nets ECE 779, CS&E 630 • Digital Signal Processing ECE 600, 609,700, 706, 707 • Applied Software Engineering • Semiconductors ECE 630, 730 • Communication theory ECE 501, 702 • Numerical Analysis ECE 759, CSE 541

  8. Semesters • If you haven’t graduated by Su 2012--- • You can stay on old quarter plan… or • You can convert to new semesters • Must make irrevocable decision for which plan • Won’t slow you down if you keep to plan.

  9. Computer Area TE’s • ECE 561 Digital design(MSI, HDL start) • Required CpE, TE EE • Runs A,W,Sp • Supervisor: F. Ozguner • ECE 662 Computer Design • Required CpE, TE EE • Runs A,Sp • Supervisor: Klein

  10. Computer Area TE’s (discontinued) • ECE 668, 767, 769 • Applied Software Engineering not to run in ECE in the future (Khan) • ECE 761 • Not to run again.

  11. Computer Area TE’s (cont.) • ECE 762 Computer Design thru VHDL • Runs Sp (but irregularly) • Supervisor: DeGroat • ECE 764 Design Verification • Runs Wi (but irregularly) • Supervisor: DeGroat

  12. Computer Area TE’s (cont.) • ECE 694A Computer Design II, follows up on 662, same text • Runs alt years • Supervisor: F. Ozguner • ECE 765 Microprocessor Systems • Runs Au • Supervisor: DeGroat

  13. Computer Area TE’s (cont.) • ECE 766 Computer Interfaces and Protocols • Runs Wi. (Klein is teaching wi 2011) • Supervisor: Ekici

  14. Computer Area TE’s (labs) • ECE 567 Microcontroller Lab. Put 265 to use. • Required CpE, TE EE • Runs Au, W, Sp, Su • Supervisor: Klein • ECE 667 Digital Design Lab. FPGA, microcontrollers. • Runs Au,W,Sp,Su • Supervisor: DeGroat
