Profiles and Categories • DINK - Dual Income, No Kids • DINKY - Dual Income, No Kids Yet • DWIK - Dual Income, With Kids • GLAM - Greying, Leisured, Affluent, Middle-aged • NILKIE - No Income, Lots of Kids • OINK - One Income, No Kids • OPAL - Older People with Active Lifestyles • OWLS - Older With Less Stress • PANSES - Politically Active, Not Seeking Employment • RAPPIES - Retired Affluent Professionals • SINBAD - Single Income, No Boyfriend, Absolutely Desperate • SINDI - Single, Independent and Divorced (women only) • SITCOM - Single Income, Two Kids, Outrageous Mortgage • TWINKIE - Two Incomes, Nanny and Kids • WINKS – Women with Income, No Kids • WOOF - Well Off Over Fifty • WOOPIES - Well Off Older People • YAKS - Young Adventurous Keen and Single • YAPPIES - Young Affluent Parents • YUPPIE - Young Urban Professional

In the 1980s, they were called "yuppies" (young urban professionals), "bumpies" (black upwardly mobile professionals) "yummies" (young upwardly mobile mommies), and "DINKs" (dual-income, no-kids couples). In the 1990s, however, yuppies and DINKs gave way to a new breed, with names such as "DEWKs" (dual earners with kids) and "MOBYs" (mother older, baby younger). Now, to the chagrin of many in this generation, they are acquiring such titles as "WOOFs" (well-off older folks) or even "GRUMPIES" (just what the name suggests).
