Schedule Wizard: New Work Week Cris Silva July 30, 2011 EDTC 3332
Needs Assessment: • Our district has been in the bottom quartile for schedule accuracy for two months now, and after performing my tests, have concluded that the manager’s don’t possess the right attitude to be successful in Schedule Wizard nor they attain the knowledgenecessary to adequately create a new work week. If the managers complete an online training educating them on the purpose of using schedule wizard and how to properly create a work week this will give us the motivation we need to improve.
Needs Assessment: • Currently the management staff is skipping steps in creating a new work week because they don’t understand the process in the program so they bypass entering employees PTO, trainings, inventory, and meetings. What they do is plainly create a template then just start adding trainings, PTO, and inventory as they see fit, witch isn’t the way the company wants it done and that’s why their schedule accuracy is struggling. • What they need is an online training that trains them step by step on how to correctly create a new work week and at the same time give them a stronger understanding of the program.
Needs Assessment: • The solution is a web based training that will consist of a lecture via podcast, step by step training with podcast, and an assessment. The lecture via podcast will review the companies 2011 imperatives and show how “Schedule Wizard” is in line with company’s goals and has a connection to their monthly quotas. The step by step training will be easy to read and follow using screen shots and text to high light on the most important information. There will be a podcast available with the same step by step instructions to assure we meet the different learning needs. Then there will be an assessment to confirm mastery of the most important context of the training.
Instructional Goal: • After completing the training, the management staff will understand that Schedule Wizard was designed to help them meet their monthly goals. • After completing the training, the management staff will be able to develop a new work week using the program Schedule Wizard.
Performance Objectives: • Using their email, the learners will email the trainer and list how Schedule Wizard fits in with the company’s 2011 initiatives focusing on customer experience, churn, and improving the brand. • Using Schedule Wizard, the learner will record PTO, trainings, and inventory with 100% accuracy. • Given an assessment of multiple choice and true or false questions, the learners will select the correct answers with 80% accuracy.
Learner Characteristics: • The learners are all managers and vary in age from 20 to 55 years of age. There is a total of 16 managers, 7 of them are in their 20’s, 7 of them are in their 30’s and 2 are in their 50’s. All the managersare full-time and have been with the company more than 3 year with exception to 1 that was recently hired two months ago. Out of the 16 managers 3 of them have been with the company more than 10 years, and 4 of them have been with the company more than 6 years. They are all efficient with the three main programs that are used to do their jobs (RMS, e-Ticket, and RSP), and all attain basic computer knowledge (Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint). Management states they all have good working personalities, and have proven themselves to be competitive and team players.
Learning Context: • The learners will be able to do the training at their workplace using the assigned training computer in the back office (internet connection is needed). The only restriction to the training is to complete it by the due date. The learners can take the training as many times as needed and is recommended that they save the link of the training so they can reference back to it when needed.
