Military generals like Julius Caesar continued to gain land, taking over modern day Spain and France. When Caesar returned to Rome he named himself Emperor of Rome. The women took care of the home and the men represented the family in public • Romans placed high value on marriage and family. • Women were allowed to own property and make legal decisions.
