  2. Yahoo.com Vitamin D helps fend off flu, asthma attacks: study • Study was done on Japanese school children. • Stated taking Vitamin D during the winter and early spring can prevent flu and asthma attacks. • Study was led by Urashima from the Jikei University School of Medicine in Tokyo.

  3. Conducted a study of 6 to 15 year old children taking vitamin D3 1200(IU) or the placebo. • Study was done from December 2008 to March 2009.

Results • Stated that 31 out of 167 children who took the placebo caught influenza A. • While only 18 out of 167 who were taking Vitamin D caught the influenza. • The study also resulted in a reduction of asthma attacks. Only 2 of the children taking vitamin D had an attack while 12 of the children taking the placebo had an asthma attack.

  6. Study was done from December 2008 to March 2009. • Was a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial comparing the effects of vitamin D and placebo in school children.

  7. Results: • 18 out of 167 (10.8%) children got the flu who were taking vitamin D. • While 31 out of 167(18.6%) children got the flu were taking the placebo. • Only two children who were taking vitamin D had asthma attacks while 12 children taking the placebo had an attack.
