  3. Utilization of Solar Energy in office building and its impact on environment CONTENTS

  4. Utilization of Solar Energy in office building and its impact on environment One Watt saved is One Watt produced One Watt saved by each Pakistani means 170 MW produced One MW costs two million US $ Cost to produce 170 MW is 29.580 billion rupees

  5. The energy demand is increasing from all sectors and the buildings continue to play a significant role in the global energy balance. Typically they account for some 20-30% of the total primary energy requirements of industrialized countries. the need for energy and environment conscious building design has become more and more important. Utilization of Solar Energy in office building and its impact on environment Problem Statement

  6. With introduction of new technologies for example photovoltaic as well as daylighting have emerged a viable option for managing the energy in building. Photovoltaic generate electricity from the renewable source of and can be installed at building Daylighting is the practice of placing windows or other openings and reflective surfaces so that during the day natural light can be used to provide effective internal lighting. Utilization of Solar Energy in office building and its impact on environment Problem Statement

  7. Daylighting and photovoltaic panels both utilize solar energy through which energy can be saved through proper sun light and electricity can be utilized from Photovoltaic Panel which can reduce the dependence on conventional electricity i.e. from WAPDA. Utilization of Solar Energy in office building and its impact on environment Problem Statement

  8. Utilization of Solar Energy in office building and its impact on environment To survey/examine the electrical load of building To determine the potential of energy savings by utilizing electricity from PV Panels To calculate the conventional electricity savings by using day lighting To determine the effect of energy savings on environment. Objectives

  9. Utilization of Solar Energy in office building and its impact on environment The electrical load of EE building will be calculated. Photovoltaic panels will be installed on the roof of Department. Daylighting will be enhanced in the department to increase the natural illumination to save the electricity. Impact of conserved electricity on environment will be analyzed Methodology

  10. Utilization of Solar Energy in office building and its impact on environment Work Plan

  11. Utilization of Solar Energy in office building and its impact on environment Awareness M.E thesis. The findings / data obtained by this work will be helpful for introducing the utilization of solar energy in other buildings of university. The study/work will be helpful for the protection of environment Research Papers to be Published / Presented in Research Journal /Conferences & seminars. Outputs

  15. Literature Review Zeinab Abdallah, et. al (2012).This paper searches to find out building of integrated photovoltaic (PV) system designs in Khartoum. It discussed technical issues and the design of an integrated PV in domestic use, within an urban approach towards sustainability in energy. PV systems can be used to develop the solar energy in almost all kinds of applications. The procedures utilized in building were introduced and the equipment of a grid-connected PV system was selected based on the watt-hour demand which was 3.8 kW.

  16. Literature Review Jan-Olof Dalenbäck (1996). He has given some general aspects about solar energy in building renovation, together with a summary evaluation of 15 case studies, i.e. existing solar renovation projects where the majority of the projects relate to renovation of multifamily buildings in central and northern European climates. The general discussion, as well as the case studies, deal with three major solar renovation concepts: 'glazed balconies and galleries', ‘solar walls’ and ‘solar collectors’, basically to meet two major renovation criteria: the need to repair or improve the ‘building envelope’ and the need to replace or improve ‘heating, ventilation and domestic hot water systems’.
