1. Parcel Mapping Personnel • CMS (Cadastral Mapping Specialist) • Designation issued by IAAO • Provides basic training in the creation and maintenance of parcel maps • Not focused on GIS
1. Parcel Mapping Personnel • Four classes required • USPAP • 101 Fundamentals of Real Property Appraisal • 600 Principles and Techniques of Cadastral Mapping • 601 Cadastral Mapping – Methods & Applications
1. Parcel Mapping Personnel • More rigorous than GISP Certification • More expensive, too! • Classes cost money • Not often offered in Ohio
1. Parcel Mapping Personnel • Two examinations • 8 hour Case Problem on Cadatral Mapping • 4 hour Master Examination
1. Parcel Mapping Personnel • Must be an IAAO member to get designation • But not to take the classes • 600 provides excellent basic education in parcel mapping and reading legal description • 5 Cadastral Mapping Specialists in Ohio
2. Editing Parcels • Right now we edit points, lines and polygons • We model them to represent parcels • The future is the parcel as the edit feature
2. Editing Parcels • As you edit a parcel all associated point, line and polygon features are created for you • Topology is automatically maintained
