It Is The ____ In Jesus(Ephesians 4:20-24) 20 But you have not so learned Christ, 21 if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught by Him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, 24 and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.

Christians Are To Grow(Ephesians 4:11-16) • Perfection, full grown in Christ • No longer children who: • Go back and forth & deceived • How is this achieved? • Use the ones that Christ gave the body • Apostles, prophets • Wrote the Word of God • Evangelists, pastors, teachers • Proclaim/Teach the Word of God • Every joint does its part in love

  5. Christians Are To Change (Ephesians 4:17-24)

The Gentiles…(Ephesians 4:17-19) • Walk • In the futility of their mind • Having their understanding darkened • Are alienated/excluded from the life of God • Because of the ignorance that is in them • Because of their blindness/hardness of heart • Are past feeling/callous and given over to • Lewdness/sensuality for the practice of • Every kind of uncleanness with greediness

  7. But You…(Ephesians 4:20-24) • Were taught and learned the truth: • Put off the old man • Corrupt/defiled according to deceitful lusts • Be renewed in the spirit of your mind • Put on the new man • Created according to God in true • Righteousness • Holiness

  8. Contrast Gentiles/Old Man In Christ/New Man Renewed in his mind Created by God to be like Him Righteousness & Holiness Futile in mind Darkened in understanding Excluded from life of God Past feeling/dead skin cells Unbridled lusts Defiled/Corrupt

  9. Am I taking advantage of the gifts of Christ? • Am I acting based on my own thinking? • Am I still feeling pain when I commit sin? • What do I need to put off and put on? What questions should I ask myself?
