The update… • Hi Grade 12, I got really sick  • I may not be in for Mon and Wed classes • This means that individual feedback on your irony responses will be delayed • However, I can give general tips to you all re exam-style writing • It means that your second irony response will not happen…yet…(phew, right?) • So just focus on the exam, which I will do my best to help you with from home 

  3. Sometimes my antibiotics make me feel like this: But when I do feel like this I swear I will stop making this PowerPoint and resume it later ;)

  4. Your Exam • Will look exactly like the BC Provincial one that you will do in June. • PART A: will include a short text. • You will answer 7 multiple choice questions • Then you will write a 150 word response about it. • The first part of PART A looks like this….

PART B • In PART B, you will read a longer text sample (it will be an excerpt from a story, or a complete very short story) • Again, you will answer 7 multiple choice questions • Then you will write a longer response, this time 300 words, multi paragraph, essay format • It will look like this:

  8. IMPORTANT: • FOR YOUR MID-YEAR EXAM, IT WILL NOT BE A COMPARE/CONTRAST (Like it was in my example, previous slide) • IT WILL BE ABOUT ONE TOPIC and ONE TEXT ONLY

  9. Let’s see some ideas… • Example question: discuss symbolism in ‘Lamb To The Slaughter’.

  10. BEFORE STARTING MY ESSAY I WOULD WRITE THIS:

  11. So what do the multiple choice questions look like, pray tell?

MONDAY = PRACTICE • TODAY: complete the multiple choice questions for ‘Lamb To The Slaughter’ • Then, try the essay question I have included • You may not get time to finish it, but try! • Whoever the teacher is with you has the answers to the multiple choice questions. • Cool, start that now Grade 12’s • TRUST ME, this practice is worth it. 
