  2. Where is South America? South America is in the southern hemisphere. The oceans bordering this continent are Pacific and Atlantic.

  3. What countries are on South America ? • Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Argentina, Chile, Columbia, Guyana, French Guiana, Venezuela, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, and Falkland Islands are on South America.

  4. Fast Facts • The highest point is 22,831 feet at Aconcagua point. • The population is 365 million. • The area in square miles is 6,885,000. • The main language is Spanish.

  5. Some Wildlife Facts Jaguars can weigh up to four hundred pounds. They eat animals like tapirs and monkeys. Anacondas are one of the largest snakes. They can grow up to 30 feet long.

  6. Geography Facts • Angel Falls is the highest waterfall in the world. It is in Venezuela. • The Amazon Rain Forest is the biggest rain forest in the world. It covers over more than two million square miles. • The Drake Passage is a seaway that separates South America from Antarctica. • Many people visit the Rio De Janiero every year. This Brazilian city is famous for the Carnival Celebration.

  7. People and Culture • South America speaks more than 100 languages. The main language is Spanish. • Religions are Protestant, Buddhist, and Jewish.
