What food do you eat? • They eat a food called broad beans, coffee, and tea. • They drink milk from goats, sheep, and buffalo.
How do you get to school? • They get to school by boat, train, camel, and bus.
What language do you speak? • They speak Arabic.
Do you wear uniforms? • Yes they do.
Do you have chores? • Yes they do.
Does your school have grades? • The ages are 6-12
Do you have rules? • Yes they do.
Do you have recess? • Yes they do.
Do you have Teachers? • Some learn online.
What is your town/city like? • Dry area. • Also covered in desert and by the Nile River.
Typical Day of a Student in Egypt • 7a.m. Wake up. Eat breakfast ~ a sandwich with white cheese or a roll with milk or juice. • 7:30 a.m. Picked up by school bus • 7:45 a.m. Play basketball or soccer with friends until the bell rings.
8:15 a.m. School starts. Students line up for 10 min. inside the school and do lots of stretching and touching their toes. • 8:25 a.m. Classes start. There are nine periods to study Arabic, English, German, math, science, and social studies. Also study art, music, and computers. About once a week, spend time at school’s computer lab.
12:00 p.m. Recess and lunch. • 12:30 p.m. Back to class. • 2:45 p.m. The school day ends. Back on bus. Some kids have their parents pick them up.
When do you start and end school • 3:45 p.m. Home. It takes longer to get home because house is one of the last stops on the bus route. • 4:00 p.m. Eat lunch. Watch American shows on the satellite dish.
5:15 p.m. Start homework, which takes an hour or more. • 6:15 p.m. Study hard for final exams • During the school year, I have more time to play and spend time with my friends.
8:00 p.m. Dinnertime. Two favorite foods, pizza and molokhia, a popular Egyptian soup made of greens. Like to eat it with rise. • 9:00 p.m. Watch television or play a game on my computer or Play Station 2. Email friends. • 10:00 or 11:00 p.m. Bedtime.

Building and classroom • The school is made of brick. • The classroom is big. The school has grades K-12.
School Day • 7:30 to 1:00 • Switch for classes • Have specials • Don’t have recess, but play volleyball for fun • Have teachers & principals • Wear uniforms

Language and Class Size • Students speak Spanish • There are 12 students in class.
